VOCAL CHOIRS

                      

GLORIA DEI MEN
This is a new ensemble for this year.  This group will focus on fellowship and spiritual development in the context mutual Christian environment.  We will make a joyful sound at one of the services once a month.  The learning curve for our vocal development will proceed at its own pace.

This musical opportunity is one of the first ways children can participate in worship at Gloria Dei.  During these early years, children learn simple songs to sing at worship services and begin learning about the different parts of our liturgy.

CHORISTER CHOIR (Grades 1 - 5)

Thursday 2:50 p.m. 

Children continue to learn and participate in various liturgical sections of the service.  Weekly devotions and snacks precede the rehearsal.  Children develop vocal techniques, extend their vocal ranges and are given music to develop music reading skills.

JUNIOR YOUTH CHOIR (Grades 6 - 8)

Wednesdays, 7:30 - 8:00 in the Nave and will resume after Lent on April 11th

This group develops the adolescent voice including the male changing voice.  Singers participate in worship as they begin to develop their personal commitment to serving God in worship and community.  A variety of music styles include Christian and contemporary music.

SENIOR HIGH YOUTH CHOIR (Grades 9 - 12)

Monday 7:00 p.m.

This group continues to develop the adolescent voice, expanding range, dynamics and tonal qualities.  A variety of music styles are sung including Christian contemporary music as singers service God in worship and in the community.

SENIOR CHOIR (All singers beyond High School Age)

The Senior Choir sings on a weekly basis, alternately participating in the 8:15 and 11:00 services.  Members learn and prepare music from a wide pallet of musical genre.  Those with soloist talent and qualities are given opportunities to share their gifts through individual offerings in liturgical settings and anthems.


HAND BELL CHOIRS

LUTHER RINGERS (beginners - grades 4&5)

Thursday 4:15 p.m.

Children learn basics of note reading and hand bell technique using hand chimes.  Ringers participate in worship services when playing techniques have sufficiently advanced.

JUBILATE RINGERS (Grades 5 & 6)

Wednesdays, 6:45 - 7:30 in the Nave and will resume after Lent on April 11th

Children are introduced to Malmark English Hand bells and continue development of their music reading and playing skills.  Ringers participate in worship services approximately once a month.

WITTENBERG RINGERS (Grades 7 & 8)

Wednesdays, 8:00 - 8:30 in the Nave and will resume after Lent on April 11th

Ringers begin developing their skills through more advanced music and ringing techniques.  Opportunities are made available to attend workshops and festivals.  Ringers participate in worship services once a month.

TOWER RINGERS (Grades 9 - 12)

Monday 7:30 p.m.

Ringers will have considerable playing and reading technique.  Members are introduced to music that  incorporates all ringing techniques and diverse rhythmic challenges.  Ringers participate in worship services once a month.

ADULT RINGERS (All ringers beyond High School Age)

Thursday 6:30 p.m.

Music is chosen to parallel the member's abilities.  All interested ringers are welcomed enthusiastically.  Ringers participate in worship services on a regular basis.
